[News] G-Dragon wraps up his 2nd concert at Seibu Dome with 80,000 fans

G-Dragon

On April 21, G-Dragon wrapped up his 2nd Japanese concert at Seibu Dome with about 80,000 fans. This is his 2nd concert during his Japanese Dome tour.

G-Dragon offered fans a wonderful music meal with many of his hit songs such as "MichiGO", "Heart Breaker", "One of a kind", "Crayon", "That XX" ... He also sang the Big Bang's songs. In particular, the appearance of Taeyang on the stage with G-Dragon for a duet song "Bad Boy" received booming reaction from fans.

G-Dragon said: "At first, I felt nervous like the first time I had a concert in Japan, but I was very happy when the fans kept supporting me. Next time, I hope that all 5 members of Big Bang will come back here together and perform for the fans."

After Seibu dome, G-Dragon will bring his next concert to Osaka Dome in Kyosera on April 27 and 29.

[Videos] G-Dragon Continues K-Pop's Love Affair With 1980s East Coast Hip Hop Culture In New York City Subway

G-Dragon Continues K-Pop

In the 1970s, when hip-hop culture was in its infancy in New York City's South Bronx, the subways were terrifying.

Covered in graffiti inside and out, straphangers taking the dimly lit trains did so at their own risk.

Big Bang's G-Dragon channels the terrible predicament faced by the era's commuters in his new solo video "MichiGO."

The surreal, nearly four-minute video was initially planned for release on the global mobile messenger LINE and to be played during G-Dragon's world tour, according to his record label YG Entertainment.

The "MichiGO" music video was released online on Friday, due to fan demand.

It is not hard to understand why G-Dragon followers clamored for the video's release. "MichiGO" is an undeniably interesting video clip, creating a surrealist landscape for several G-Dragon personas to come together and dance.

G-Dragon's face has the expressiveness of a silent film actor, selling visual effects that otherwise might come off hokey, like when a futuristic gunman fires a laser at the video's school boy protagonist (both roles played by G-Dragon, of course).

Another appealing part of "MichiGO" is the innovative directorial decision not to rely on green screen technology.

The choice gives G-Dragon's new video a retro, cinematic quality is boldly dark for K-pop.
"MichiGO" special effects are achieved with low-fi techniques like lighting and even actor masks, a revolutionary concept in the age of wall-to-wall CGI.

The result is something that at moments even resembles the 1979 gang film "The Warriors" that depicted the same era of frightening New York City subways and violent city streets mentioned above, mixed with a heavy dose of off-kilter surrealism.

Musically, "MichiGO" sounds like it came from a little further south.

A nod to Southern rap artists like Ludacris and Juvenile, the song definitely gets your head bobbing.
And although the track mainly lingers on one groove, it is a strong one.

One standout moment is when the rhythm turns around in the break to a house-infused quarter note bass drum beat.

After the stutter step production on the rest of the track, the effect is sonic vertigo in the best way.

Although "MichiGO" might not be among the most innovative songs in K-pop right now, it does stay with you like all good pop music should.

And G-Dragon, who recently sold out tickets to a pair of Hong Kong shows in minutes, has a certain charismatic star quality that could eclipse his Big Bang band mates, if he hasn't already.

[News] Two top stars come together! GD will be a special guest at Psy’s concert on April 13

Psy
Soon we are going to get to see a world star and one of our best “idol” musicians together at one concert. We’re talking about Psy and G-Dragon, the leader of Big Bang.

Psy will do a solo concert at Seoul World Cup Stadium (Seongsan) on the afternoon of April 13. Since last summer, Psy has played a leading role in the global K-pop syndrome as he took the whole world by storm with his viral music video of “Gangnam Style,” so not only Koreans but also people abroad are taking an interest in this concert.

Psy has put over 30 billion won into producing this blockbuster concert, livening up his fans’ expectations. He will perform his new song “Gentleman” for the first time at this concert. That’s one of the reasons so many fans around the world are interested in this concert, which is to be broadcast live on YouTube.

In addition, there’s more good news: G-Dragon is going to appear as a special guest at the concert. According to the several music industry sources, GD will sing his new song “MichiGo.”

This is a result of the two stars’ friendship. To encourage GD, Psy attended the first day of GD’s solo world tour, One of a Kind, which was held in the Seoul Olympic Park Gymnastics Arena on March 30. Impressed by GD’s performance, Psy suggested he perform as a guest at his concert. GD accepted the suggestion gladly because he likes Psy personally and respects him as his senior in the music industry. Fortunately, GD has no tour performances scheduled for the week when Psy’s concert will be held, so he’s free to perform there.

GD’s solo world tour has been in progress since late last month and is predicted to attract a total audience of 550,000 in 13 cities in 8 countries, including Korea and Japan.
