[News] Girl’s Generation hold their first solo world tour
The group Girl’s Generation (Taeyeon, Tiffany, Jessica, Sunny, Hyoyeon, Yuri, Sooyoung, Yoona, and Seohyun) are going on their first world tour, starting with two days of concerts in Seoul at the Gymnastics Arena in Olympic Park on June 8 and 9. This concert will be their third solo concert in Korea and the opening of the 2013 Girls’ Generation World Tour: Girls & Peace, their first such tour since their debut in the summer of 2007. Fans both at home and abroad are showing a lot of interest in the tour, which will go on to cities around the world after the Seoul premiere.
Recently, Girl’s Generation won the first prize in a poll titled Today’s Greatest Girl Group, which was organized by the American music site Popdust. Defeating the American vocal group Cimorelli, the British group The Saturdays, and the American group Fifth Harmony.

[News] Girls’ Generation draw a large crowd at the Taipei airport
According to an announcement made by local media on May 26, Girls Generation received an explosive welcome from Taiwanese fans when the K-pop stars visited Taiwan for a concert. The airport was packed with fans and local media. When the female stars left the place, it caused a lot of congestion because of the crowds of people wanting to see the Korean stars.
Soo Young couldn’t come, because of other engagements. Most of the other members wore sunglasses, without makeup. They pleased fans with their comfortable but stylish looks.
Four Korean idol groups performed at the Happy 4 Kpop Concert in Taiwan, held in Taipei on May 26: Girls’ Generation, EXO, ZE:A 5, and BTOB.

[News] Jessica shows off her glamorous figure in Hong Kong
On May 13, Jessica, a member of Girls’ Generation, attended a store opening of a fashion brand in Hong Kong with designer Jang Min Young and stylist Jung Yoon Gi. Around 300 fans gathered at the party to see her. When she showed up, fans, mostly men, shouted out and the female star smiled and waved at them.
She was wearing a bright-yellow sleeveless dress, creating a vivid mood. The cut of her dress slightly exposed the upper part of her breasts, catching the eye. Jessica blew kisses to the fans while leaving the stage after greeting the crowd.

[News] SNSD’s Tiffany throws the first ball in an American baseball game
Tiffany, a member of Girls’ Generation, visited LA Dodgers Stadium on May 7 to support Ryu Hyun Jin, a Korean Major League Baseball pitcher who was scouted by LA Dodgers this year. She threw the first ball before the game began.
Ryu didn’t pitch at this game but went to the mound to catch Tiffany’s trial pitch. She tried her best, but the ball she threw flew the wrong way.
LA Dodgers asked Girls’ Generation to throw the first ball before the game began. Tiffany responded because she was available. She shook hands with Ryu and shot several photos too.
The LA Dodgers tweeted several photos that day, including ones of the singer’s visit and a photo taken with player Matt Kemp.

On June 8th and 9th, the 9 ladies will kick off their first individual world tour ‘2013 Girls’ Generation World Tour – Girls & Peace‘ at Seoul Olympic Park’s Gymnastics Stadium, followed by other stops around Asia as well as various other countries around the world. It is expected that Girls’ Generation will perform a high quality concert, showing their charms and captivating performances for the audience who have been waiting to see them live.
Tickets for the first concert of their world tour in Seoul will go on sale starting on May 9th at 8pm KST through G-Market. Seeing as how Girls’ Generation is a group with a lot of ticket power, fierce competition to get the tickets is expected to happen. [News] Girls’ Generation gathered 200,000 fans during their Japanese tour
According to an announcement made by their agency, SM Entertainment, Girls’ Generation wrapped up their second arena tour successfully in Japan, where the group started the tour on February 9.
GIRLS’ GENERATION Ⅱ-Girls&Peace-Japan 2nd Tour was performed 20 times in 7 different cities, including Kobe, Saitama, and Nikata and gathered a total of 200,000 fans, which is the largest in number among Korean girl groups.
They finished the last performances on April 20 and 21 at the Central Arena in Osaka, where the girls captivated local fans with 27 songs, including “Genie,” “Gee,” “Girls&Peace,” “Flower Power,” “I Got a Boy,” and “Dancing Queen.”
Girls’ Generation will release their new Japanese EP, Love & Girls, on May 29.

[News] Twenty-one K-pop artists will perform at the Dream Concert on May 11
The Dream Concert, one of the largest collaborative concerts in Korea, will be held at the Seoul World CupStadium on May 11. The event is hosted by KEPA (Kim Young Jin, president) and the Korea Entertainment Producers’ Association, sponsored by Hyundai Oil Bank, and supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
This is the event’s 19th year, and 21 K-pop singers will perform at the concert, including Beast, SHINee, Infinite, 2AM, Ukiss, ZE:A, Girl’s Generation, Kara, Sistar, 4 Minute, Secret, EXO, B1A4, Rainbow, Heo Gak, Girl’s Day, Speed, BTOB, Evol, and Vixx.
President Kim, of KEPA, says, “The Dream Concert has contributed to spreading Hallyu, the Korean Wave, as a representative K-pop concert. Next year will be its 20th year, and we are preparing to move forward to create new brand value for the concert.”
A red-carpet event will also be held to show off flamboyant fashions of the performing artists.

[News] Girl’s Generation release a Japanese documentary: “We want to be called artists”
On March 24, the Japanese broadcaster MBS aired an interview with Girl’s Generation (Yoona, Sooyoung, Hyoyeon, Yuri, Taeyeon, Jessica, Tiffany, Sunny, and Seohyun) on its documentary program, Jounetsu Tairiku (情熱大陸). The girls talked about their work as an “idol” group: “It’s an honor for us to be called ‘idols’, but people tend to use that designation on any young singers or singing groups these days.” Sooyoung added her candid opinion, saying, “It’s difficult to distinguish between ‘idols’ and ‘artists,’ but we’d rather be called artists.”
The program drew attention for showing Girl’s Generation’s offstage life such, their expectations for their Japan tour, and their highly focused rehearsals of their choreography.
