[News] Hong Kong falls in love with Shinhwa

The longest-lasting idol group, Shinhwa (Eric, Lee Min Woo, Kim Dong Wan, Shin Hye Sung, Jun Jin, and Andy), recently held their first concert of the 2013 Asia Tour in Hong Kong. According to a local press release on June 9, about 10,000 fans gathered at Hong Kong Asia-World-Expo Arena on June 8 and were excited by Shinhwa’s concert, which was their first one in Hong Kong since their debut.

The six members of Shinhwa performed a variety of songs, including both their earlier hit songs and new songs from their 11th album, The Classic. Getting to see Shinhwa up close for the first time, fans in Hong Kong kept shouting about Shinhwa’s fine teamwork, which has lasted for 15 years.

After Hong Kong, the 2013 Shinhwa Grand Tour: The Classic will go on to five other cities: Shanghai, Taipei, Tokyo, Beijing, and Seoul. Attendance is expected to reach a total of 100,000.

Shinhwa’s Eric had to stop a show recording because he had to go to the bathroom.

On the broadcast of TvN ‘Baek Ji Yeon’s People Inside’ aired on the 4th, Shinhwa members appeared as special guests to convey their stories for the past 15 years.

While talking about each members’ personal troubles, Eric suddenly said, “I’ve been going through many difficult things in my life, but honestly, I’m going through one right now. I need to go to the bathroom”, and everyone bursts into laughter.

Jun Jin said, “I think it is a quite serious situation” and Eric without any hesitation got up from the set and rushed to the bathroom. Later, Eric explained, “Before coming to the recording, I drink a lot of water to relax.”

Eric and Andy sleeping was revealed.

On June 1, Shinhwa posted on their Facebook stating,"Did you know that to go out on a music program in the afternoon, we need to begin rehearsing early in the morning? MBC Show! Music Core starts a bit earlier so our preparation is even earlier. They look tired but.. they look so cute." The posting included a photo.

In the picture, Andy and Eric are cuddling on a sofa. Eric is resting his head on Andy's shoulder while they appear to be taking a quick nap together.

People in the online community responded to the photo with comments like, "They look like babies," "They must be tired after their comeback," and "They look tired but they look so cute."

Shinhwa made their comeback with their 11th album with the title song "This Love."

Shinhwa's member Eric and Yoo Seung Woo revealed a self-camera photo taken together in the waiting room.

Today, Mnet "M! Countdown" Twitter posted, "The sweet combo that you can only see in M COUNTDOWN! See this live soon at 6PM!" along with a picture.

In the picture, Eric and Yoo Seung Woo are standing shoulder to shoulder, smiling at the camera. Yoo Seung Woo once again revealed his trademark bright smile.

Internet users who saw this commented, "Is there some type of special stage prepared?," "I like this combination," and "Both are so cute."

[News] Shinhwa release their 11th studio album on May 16

According to an announcement on May 2 by the group’s agency, the Shinhwa Company, Shinhwa (Eric, Lee Min Woo, Kim Dong Wan, Shin Hye Sung, Jun Jin, and Andy), who are so far the longest-lived idol group in Korea, are to release their 11th studio album, titled “The Classic,” on May 16. It has been a year since the group’s 10th studio album, and that was after a four-year hiatus.

A staffer of the Shinhwa Company says: “This album was the result of working hard to add newness to Shinhwa’s original style. It includes not only dance songs such as only Shinhwa can do and which are representative of the group, but also other songs with popular appeal that are easy for anybody to enjoy. We did our best to make this their best album ever. Shinhwa will shoot a music video of the title song on May 1 and 2.”

In March, Shinhwa completed a series of concerts at the Olympic Gymnastics Arena in Seoul, marking the 15th anniversary of their debut. With the release of this album, Shinhwa will go on an Asian concert tour to Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, and Singapore and cities in Taiwan and Japan. An encore concert is also planned for Seoul.

The group recorded an episode of MBC’s Golden Fishery—Radio Star on April 24 and is scheduled to appear live on SNL Korea on tvN on May 4.

Shinhwa debuted in March 1998 and have continued to perform together without changing members for over 15 years, which makes them the longest-lived idol group in Korea. The six members have not only reached the top in the music industry but have also performed as actors and solo artists, have showing off their multiple talents.
