[News] Key Updates on Rain, Se7en, Sangchu and Other Celebrity Soldiers

Although mandatory military service has always been a touchy subject, especially in the entertainment industry, recent events such as Rain, Se7en and Sangchu’s violations of military rules, have set forth a domino effect, bringing to light other celebrity soldiers’ misdeeds and eventually eradicating the title of a celebrity soldier.

The hotly discussed issue of celebrities in the military has not died down even after the announcement of getting rid of the celebrity soldier title. Here are a few key updates:

1. The Ministry of National Defense acknowledges making special exceptions for Rain but will not make him re-enlist.

On August 7, a source from the Ministry of National Defense spoke with My Daily and said, “During a meeting with the National Defense Promotion Support unit on July 18, the chair members acknowledged that they had given special exceptions for Rain, regarding his document submissions when he was first recruited. However, this can be seen as a difference in opinion over which documents are needed and which are not.”
This source also denied rumors of Rain’s re-enlistment by saying, “it’s completely untrue. In order for Rain to re-enlist, he needs to be in conflict with military rules. However, upon investigations, Rain was found innocent of previous charges and has lawfully carried out his duties during his enlistment.

2. Sangchu and Se7en provide receipts from various massage parlors before and after their enlistment to prove that they went for medicinal purposes

On August 8, SportsSeoul.com reported that Se7en and Sangchu provided receipts from various (regular and not adult) massage parlors to prove that they visited for medicinal purposes on the night they were caught on tape.

The receipts show the exact dates and times of when the two celebrities visited the regular massage parlors, which backs up the Ministry of National Defense’s intial statements of Se7en and Sangchu’s visits to be medicinal.

3. Sangchu and Se7en re-stationed to new unit after serving time in military jail.

After finishing their military jail time for ten days, Se7en and Sangchu were re-stationed to a front-line field units on August 9.

Se7en has been re-stationed to Pocheon’s 8th Infantry “Tumbler” Division and Sangchu has been re-stationed to Hwacheon’s 15th Infantry “Victory” Division.
Both have also been demoted from having a medium rank to a small rank.

4. Wheesung is discharged and apologizes for the trouble.

After spending three days in military jail for using his personal cell phone, Wheesung was discharged and apologized in tears for the trouble.

5. Singer KCM apologizes to fans and promises to reflect on his actions.

KCM left a message of apology to his fans after serving his time in military jail and being discharged.

On August 4, KCM posted, “I’m sorry. I am reflecting on my actions. I’ve made you worry and disappointed you without intending to do so.” KCM continued in his message, “Thanks to my family, I was able to discharge safely. I miss you all so much. I have so much to say. But after time passes, let’s talk face-to-face. Thank you so much for the letters and gifts you sent me,” and “I will reflect on my actions and work hard on my music. I will go to you with a good image and good news soon.”

KCM was supposed to be discharged on July 31 but his military jail sentence postponed it to August 4. He was sentenced to military jail for using his personal cell phone without permission.

[News] Se7en, Sangchu And Other Celebrity Soldiers Reassigned To The Front Lines

The South Korean Ministry of National Defense has come to a final decision regarding Se7en, Sangchu, and ten other celebrity soldiers' unacceptable behavior.

On Monday it was announced that following their punishment in military prison, all twelve soldiers would be reassigned to posts on the front line.

In late June news broke of several celebrity soldiers out eating and drinking after participating in a military concert to commemorate the anniversary of the Korean War. Later in the night, singers Se7en and Sangchu were seen leaving two illegal massage parlors.

As the scandal unfolded, it was discovered that a considerable number of other soldiers in the Defense Media Agency, the South Korean military's public relations unit, had been caught breaking the rules.

The Ministry of Defense then made the decision to get rid of the celebrity unit altogether and the soldiers were sentenced to time in military prison.

Se7en and Sangchu each received ten days detainment for their offenses while five others were sentenced to four days for carrying their cell phones. Another soldier was reportedly placed under 'house arrest' and grounded to his unit for leaving his official post when he was not supposed to.

According to the Ministry of Defense, nine of the soldiers were relocated to their new posts on Saturday, and the remaining three, Se7en, Sangchu, and actor Lee Jun Hyuk, will join their new units on the front lines on Friday after finishing out their prison sentences.

[News] How Will The Se7en Scandal Affect His Actress Girlfriend Park Han Byul?

[News] How Will The Se7en Scandal Affect His Actress Girlfriend Park Han Byul?

The new scandal involving singers Se7en and Mighty Mouth's Sangchu has netizens wondering.

After learning about the celebrity recruits' visit to an adult massage parlor while they were supposed to be on military duty, some netizens wondered how it will affect the singers' future service and the general treatment of celebrity recruits. But some netizens also expressed concern that the scandal might negatively affect Se7en's relationship with actress Park Han Byul.

Se7en, whose real name is Choi Dong Wook has dated Park for 11 years, ever since they were high school sweethearts. Four years ago they admitted publicly that they were in a relationship. That made things easier for them as a couple.

"Everything became a lot more comfortable," said Park. "I'm not good at lying so I was scared that people would ask when I went on interviews or talk shows. Now I'm more confident and at ease since I have nothing to hide."

A few months ago the actress was interviewed for her film, "My Black Mini Dress," and asked about her relationship with the singer. She said Se7en encouraged her to try out for the film role, as the party girl Hye Ji was so different from her previous roles. And at the final filming, he bought pizza and chicken for the whole cast and crew. At that point she was asked if the two had plans to marry and she said she was still too young to consider it.

"It feels like something that won't happen until well into our future," said Park, who appeared in the dramas "Oh! My Lady" and "My Fair Lady." "Nothing can be guaranteed in a person's life, but I want to marry after I turn 30. I think Dong Wook feels the same."

Both Se7en and Park Han Byul are 28 now.

Park has made no statement about the massage parlor incident, which is being investigated by the Ministry of National Defense. The ministry stated that one of the two celebrities has a bad back and a bad knee and that's why he went for a massage. But they did not say which singer it was and offered no explanation for the presence of the other singer.

Immediately after the scandal made the news, screen captures of Se7en's military profile were posted online alongside Park Han Byul's. His said, "Things can happen." Hers said. "Don't do anything you'll regret."

Was her motto a warning to her boyfriend? He might have listened to her motto instead of his own and saved himself a lot of bad publicity.

[News] Se7en and Sangchu investigated for visiting massage parlor while on duty

Celebrity soldiers Se7en and Mighty Mouth’s Sangchu are being investigated by South Korean military for visiting massage parlors while serving on active duty.

On June 25, SBS’ ‘In Depth 21’ broadcasted footage of celebrity soldiers after participating in a concert for soldiers on June 21. Around 10 PM, the celebrity soldiers gathered to eat dinner at a nearby restaurant with alcoholic drinks like soju while wearing casual clothing (which is breaking the army rules).

At 2AM, two soldiers (Se7en and Sangchu) left the motel again and were spotted going to a massage parlor nearby. After spending 10 minutes, they took a taxi and went to another massage parlor. They spent about 30 minutes in that parlor before exiting.

When ‘In Depth 21’ reporters confronted the soldiers, asking if they went into both massage parlors, they attempted to take the cameras away with violent force. The soldiers also denied drinking or doing anything illegal.

Ministry of National Defense confirmed that an investigation is ongoing, saying, “We are currently investigating current celebrity recruits Se7en and Sangchu entering an adult entertainment establishment after their performance.”
