[News] Jang Keun Suk turns down his throne!

Jang Keun Suk was reported to be part of MBC's new drama series Hwatu (the name of a Korean card game). However, an official of Jang's agency said, “Jang considered the role, but decided not to accept it.” Jang was suggested for the role of the Yuan king who lost his throne to his brother. 

Hwatu is about the union of China and Korea through Queen Gi of the Chinese Yuan Dynasty and a king of Goryeo (a Korean kingdom, 918 – 1392). Ha Ji Won will play the role of Queen Gi, and Joo Jin Mo will be King Chunghye of Goryeo.

[News] MBC to air Super Junior’s South America Tour

Super Junior’s ‘Super Show 5 in South America’ concert tour which was held at the end April will be shown through MBC TV on June 7th from 1:15AM (KST).

For the first time ever in Korean music history, Super Junior held South America tour concert from the April 21st to the 27th, performing for thousands of fans in Brazil, Argentina, Chile, and Peru. All the tickets for the concerts were all sold out, attracting a total of 40,000 fans overall.

The program will feature Super Junior showing professional behaviors as a K-pop representative idol group, and also talked about their frank feelings which no one could hear before.

[News] Three couples in We Got Married set out on a trip to Japan together

Three couples appearing on MBC’s We Got Married recently traveled to Japan. According to May 16 announcement by a staffer, the thee couples (Jung Jin Woon of 2AM and Kho Joon Hee, Jo Jung Chi and Jung In, Tae Min of Shinee and Son Na Eun of A-pink) went on a trip for three days to Fukuoka, Japan, on May 14.

This is their first time to travel together since they joined We Got Married at one month intervals, starting with Jung Jin Woon and Kho Joon Hee in February. It is also the first time for the three couple to film together, which drew interest as to how the trip would go considering the troubles of their first meeting.

According to a staffer, after the initial threll of taking a trip together, the three couples had a rough time following their tight schedule, startintg with their departure at dawn.

In We Got Married, the three couples show off their individual appeal. Jung Jin Woon and Kho Joon Hee are a younger-man-older-woman couple (the opposite of what is usually expected). Jo Jung Chi and Jung In are a real couple who have been dating for 10 years. Tae Min and Son Na Eun are a new “idol” couple.

[News] Lee Seung Gi speaks up on the difficulties of drama filming

Lee Seung Gi, who is currently busy filming MBC‘s ‘Book of the House of Gu‘, dished out his feelings on the stress of filming a weekly drama.

“Because of filming, I barely sleep,” he confessed during his appearance on MBC‘s ‘Entertainment Relay‘. “I need to eat a lot of well-being foods, such as eel juice and things like that.”

The rigors of Korean drama filming is well-documented, with several actors and actresses actually fainting due to the stress placed on them by the tight shooting schedule. Hopefully Lee Seung Gi can finish his drama safely!

[News] 'We Got Married' SHINee Taemin-A Pink Son Naeun to meet for the First Time

Idol group SHINee member Taemin and A Pink member Son Naeun will begin their marriage life through the MBC show, "We Got Married."

They will be the youngest couple to ever appear on the show as well and is gaining much attention.
Tomorrow, they will meet for the first time at a cafe in Jeju Island.

The two also played roles in a SBS sitcom before and already have an acquaintance with one another.

The staff also stated that the two have never dated before so it will be interesting to see how the two get to know each other.

[News] MBC 'Music Core' to Begin New Ranking System, 'No More TV Appearance Points'

MBC "Music Core" is coming back with a new ranking system that focuses on the heart of music.

The ranking system, which will be implemented starting on April 20, scrapped the 'TV appearance' criterion in its entirety. The change will offset the overrepresentation of idol artists and underrepresentation of valuable underdog artists-often dubbed audio artists-with tremendous talent.

Associates of "Music Core" revealed that increased lobbying for stage shares was a huge problem because of the large stake 'TV appearance' points had on rankings." In order to establish fairness and prevent illegal dealings behind the scenes, we decided to do away with TV appearance points," they stated.

In addition, new selection factors were established. Online clip view counts, in-person votes across pre-determined groups of various generations will add to the overall fairness of the ranking system. The top four artists who place on top according to these criteria as well as music sales will be voted in by texts during the live showing of "Music Core."

Clearly, the staff members of "Music Core" are attempting to create a stage on which a fair balance of various artists will showcase their talent and allow the viewers to have an all-around satisfying experience.
