[News] Song Hye Kyo donates Braille guidebooks to help the blind

Song Hye Kyo

As soon as Actress Song Hye-kyo learned that there are no Braille guidebooks available at the Independence Hall of Korea in Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province, she didn’t think twice about providing assistance to the museum. She funded the publication of 1,000 Braille guidebooks, a project organized by Seo Kyoung-duk, a professor at Sungshin Women’s University.

In an interview with the local media, the actress said, “In local museums, not so many Braille brochures have been provided for the blind. After I played a role of a blind woman, I realized how much difficulties they have to face in their daily lives. To help them, I decided to support in publishing Braille brochures.”

Song’s role in the SBS drama “The Winter, the Wind Blows” helped her better understand the difficulties that people with disabilities have to face day in and day out. She plays a blind chaebol daughter in the drama.
